Approved by COSEWIC in April 2010
Formatting Template
The accompanying template file (please read "How to download/save the template", below) provides information for contractors on the format of COSEWIC status reports. For detailed information on the required scientific content of COSEWIC status reports, refer to the document entitled
Instructions for the Preparation of COSEWIC Status Reports
.
How to download/save the template:
When downloading or saving the template file (template_e.dot), Windows may attach a « .doc » extension. In order to ensure that the template functions properly, it must be saved with a « .dot » extension.
How to use the template:
The template is formatted in Microsoft Word Styles. There are two ways that it may be used:
The template file may be attached to an existing Microsoft Word document:
Word 97: |
« Tools » « Templates and Add-Ins » « Automatically update document styles » « Attach ».
|
Word 95: |
« File » « Templates » « Automatically update document styles » « Attach ».
|
When the template file is attached to a Microsoft Word document, the appropriate style (font, size, bold, italic, align left, etc.) for the various parts of the Status Report may be formatted by placing the cursor (left-clicking) within the text to be formatted or highlighting the text to be formatted and selecting the style from the drop-down list to the left of that for Fonts. Refer to instructions within the template itself for styles corresponding to section headings, text, and other information included within Status Reports. Please submit formatted Status Reports in Microsoft Word version 95 or 97.
The template file may be opened and used as a template for a new document. Text may be typed or inserted in the appropriate section and it will appear in the appropriate style.
To work directly within the template in this way, double-click the template file. A new document based on the template, entitled "Document1.doc", will open. This document can then be re-named and saved.
Note: Opening the template file while in Microsoft Word by selecting File/Open gives access to the template itself (Template.dot) for editing, NOT a "Document1.doc". The final Status Report should be saved and submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.doc) in version 95 or 97.
How to interpret information provided in the template:
